Between Fire and Water. From Driftwood to Sculpture.

A piece of driftwood, shaped by water, wind, and time. I transformed it using the ancient Japanese technique Shou Sugi Ban (Yakisugi) — the traditional art of preserving wood through controlled charring. The burned surface reveals a striking contrast between smooth, polished forms and deeply cracked textures, turning nature into a sculptural object.eveery crack, every curve, every mark tells the story of its journey. Nature is the artist. I simply continued the conversation.
