Anna Parisch (RAVEN) is a Swiss contemporary artist exploring light, matter and the invisible landscapes of memory.
Based in Geneva, she works primarily in painting, combining mineral pigments, oil, ink, gold and traditional as well as Japanese-inspired techniques. Moving between abstraction and landscape, her work seeks not to depict a place, but to evoke its atmosphere, memory and emotional presence.
Her paintings are built through layers of pigment, colour, oil, ink and gesture. Surfaces are transformed, eroded and sometimes allowed to dissolve, creating a space where horizons, water, stone, mist and distant light emerge as sensations rather than literal subjects. Light is central to this process — not as illumination, but as a presence revealed through material, depth and contrast.
RAVEN's artistic language brings together contemplative traditions of sacred and landscape painting with the expressive freedom of gesture and the Japanese sensitivity to restraint, impermanence and material presence. Her exploration of Nihonga, Sumi-e and wabi-sabi informs a practice in which tradition and contemporary abstraction coexist naturally.
She works with both conventional and experimental materials, including mineral and natural pigments, Indian ink, walnut stain, Gofun oyster shell powder, glass powder and rust, sometimes incorporating materials gathered during her travels. Techniques such as Sumi-e, Suminagashi, cyanotype and oxidation processes extend her exploration of transformation, chance and material memory.
Rather than reproducing a landscape, RAVEN seeks to capture what remains when the landscape has disappeared: a fragment of light, a sensation, a memory or an emotional trace. Her process balances intention and spontaneity, allowing unexpected marks and transformations to become part of the work.
Through material, light and transformation, her paintings create a space where landscape becomes memory, matter becomes light, and the visible gives way to the unseen.
Vita
Born in 1971, Anna Parisch is a freelance visual artist based in Geneva. She holds a degree in History and trained in drawing and illustration at the Higher School of Art of Annecy Alps (ESAAA) and the École des Beaux-Arts Genevois (EBAG), IFAGE, while further developing her practice through workshops and the Martenot method.
Between 1997 and 1999, she participated in an exchange programme between pastel artists from Yaroslavl and Cuneo, Italy, assisting in the organisation of exhibitions. In 1998, a decisive encounter with master Edvard Vyrzhikovsky introduced her to plein air painting and marked an important stage in her artistic development.
Her practice has since evolved through continuous experimentation with techniques and materials. She trained in Nihonga techniques at the Musée Guimet in Paris and completed a course on the art market in Geneva.

RAVEN regularly participates in international contemporary art fairs and collective exhibitions, including Art International Zurich, Art contemporain at the Carrousel du Louvre, ArtBoxy, OpenArtCode in Florence, Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, as well as collective exhibitions in Geneva.
